1. What is Omura?
- Omura is the name of a fantasy-like world made of magic and magical creatures. It is made up of a large ocean and many islands cover its surface. These islands are large enough to be considered continents, but are not referred to as such. Each island is unique to itself and cannot be traveled between except by flight, boat, or portals. For example, the island of Amaru is not connected to Restaen at all, but creatures and people are free to travel between the two if they have the means. Islands are often divided into regions (the earth equivalent would be continents with countries). There are no humans in Omura like on earth but instead a diverse array of races such as Luparis, Saikana, Aurorans, Toraled, and Arteln to name a few, though some are rarer than others.
2. Where/what is Restaen?
- Restaen is the eastern part of Omura's mainland (two islands, Restaen and Wentres which are connected by portal and have the land of Dorbre within both), and is the main part where my characters come from. It is heavily forested with dirt pathways and the occasional abandoned stone building covered in moss/vines. There is a large canyon in one part of it, and the portal as well as the Peacekeeper are located here near a slope leading upward.
3. What is a portal and a Peacekeeper/Gatekeeper/Keepyr?
- A portal is what it sounds like, an opening to earth from Omura for a Keepyr to come through. Information about Keepyrs can be found here
[link] . A Peacekeeper is something else entirely and is a being in charge of keeping that part of Omura safe. For example, Restaen's Peacekeeper is a pegicorn named Pegarus. He is assisted unofficially by a dragon named Fineus who possesses powerful magic which allows him to see magical activity throughout the island. There is also a Gatekeeper here, which is a being in charge of protecting the portal. While a Peacekeeper will move throughout the island, a Gatekeeper does not. Restaen's Gatekeeper is a griffon named Verkarr.
Pegarus:
He is a white pegicorn (horse with unicorn horn and pegasus wings) who has black wingtips and a black mane/tail. He has strong healing magic and cares more for others than himself. He protects all of Restaen.
Fineus:
He is a stone grey dragon with a study, muscular build. He has brown spikes down his back and brown ram's horns. He can grow fangs at will and extend his claws through magical means. He can create a 'web' of magic over the island to sense 'vibrations' or changes in magical energy. Most of t he time he does nothing, but if they are hostile or negative ones he alerts Pegarus immediately.
Verkarr:
He is a white griffon about the size of a medium dog. He is a mix of white tiger and snowy owl. He is small but powerful and wears a collar to store extra magic in that allows him to shift form into a person with feathered ears and wings as well as a tiger's tail. His wings are also tipped black much like Pegarus's. He often carries around a stuffed cat.
4. Who/what lives in Restaen?
- Restaen has many types of animals and plantlife, anything from normal earth ones to fantasy-like ones such as Dragonfire trees which are like willow trees, but the drooping branches are bright red and create the effect of spouting flames. There are herds of unicorns (often small in numbers, 5 at the most per herd) and groups of small dragons (Alex's size or smaller). There are also lizards with bands of colour across their bodies (they have small wing patterns on their backs but don't actually have wings. They also have three spikes on the end of their tails), and one pack of wandering wolves who travel all over Restaen. Gembirds are also frequent (brightly plumed birds with long tails, think Quetzal bird for an earth comparison).
There are six villages in Restaen, each with unique traits and races.
Tyzarkin: A prosperous village which is inhabited by tiger-like people called the Nahmir. They have tiger tails, ears, and clawed hands and feet. There is a faded tigerstripe pattern over their skin, and it varies for each individual. The fur can be in any shade of orange as well as white, and on very rare occasions black or grey.
Rizahl: It is inhabited by people with dark skin called the Kirahns. They mostly are known for their jewelry, which often includes rubies and emeralds as the main focal point. They have a love for wearing reds, golds, and other bright firey colours. They also love to dance and always have a fire in the middle of their village even at night. On special occasions they turn the fire purple with magic (though it doesn't last too long. they're not super proficient in it).
Shora: A wandering tribe who temporarily live on the eastern most part of Restaen. They've been known to just travel from all different parts, though their village is always called Shora. They seem to be part dragon in that they have the ability to breath fire (only when startled and they have to be a certain age for it to work) and have clawed feet and some spikes on their forearms (rather than on their backs).
Hayza: The village near Restaen's canyon. It's basically a really bright place (lots of market stuff) full of different amulets, lanterns, and music. I can't really say WHO lives here since it's a hodge-podge of a bunch of different races. Basically anyone who can will travel here, so it's a really nice place to go if you want to hear stories from other parts of omura. Restaen's small population of Toraled also live here, though they enjoy more tribal clothing than their counterparts in Amaru's volcano area.
Akarun: The northern-most town. It is secluded by the mountain range that twists around and actually forms Hayza's canyon. It's not really a place that many people visit. This tends to be where the wolf pack mentioned earlier stays at the most frequently, because the people who live there (the Sharim) actually think of wolves as their family. They're very remotely related to luparis in that they are also part canine. They have the ears and tail, but rather than being blond, they mostly have brown or dark blue hair and the tend to have patterns of three light blue designs (different for every one) on their arms and legs. They wear heavy fur clothing and live in the snow.
Garinza: The people here, called the Jazale, are known for unusual eye colours (but relatively normal hair colours). They often have feathers woven into their hair which is allowed to grow wildly, making the individual look like they have a mane. They have griffon-like ears, and sometimes small wings on their backs, though they cannot fly. Feathers are usually blue and white, though they can be any colour as long as it is light. Very rarely are dark colours ever seen. All Jazale wear some form of metal. Most have either bracers or some form of simplistic armour, others have highly decorative metal bands such as bracelets, anklets, or a necklace. Metal headbands are also common.
